2026 Pattern Sneak Peek!

2026 Pattern Sneak Peek!

As you may have guessed by the current limited online activity, 2025 has been 3KQ's "soft launch," but I haven't been idle. I'm a planner, and getting 2026 "set up" has been a lot of work, but I'm so excited to make it happen. There's an amazing announcement in the January newsletter (second Tuesday of every month) that I'm still pinching myself over, a more consistent online engagement plan, and one pattern release per season. Of course, we all know the paraphrase, no plan survives first contact with the enemy [or in this case, reality], so we'll be flexible, but it still helps to know what we're aiming for.

I am absolutely head over heels for our 2026 patterns and because I'm kind of a golden retriever in human form about this kind of thing, I'm bouncing all over trying not to give everything away. Then I thought maybe I could give you a little teaser of the new patterns to get you excited too!

WINTER 2026 - THE ETHEL

Because there are three kitties in Three Kitties Quilting, and only two Kitty patterns for sale, it stands to reason our first 2026 release will be the third kitty. I will have so much to say about the Ethel pattern when it launches. This will be our first intermediate level pattern, because (for better or worse) I'm obsessed with less-common quilting shapes like 60° angles and circles. No circles in this one, and as always, the most accessible way to make the pattern, but it is still inherently a slightly trickier pattern. I'm currently in the midst of making Graham's Christmas gift, but as soon as it's done I have the cover sample ready to sew. It's a medallion quilt, a style I absolutely love and come back to frequently.

I purchased the fabric and then lost my note with which ones they are; instead I'll tell you what they're supposed to be based on the mock-up, but availability means it will look a tiny bit different. These are or would be all Moda/Bella Solids.
Backing: Chelsea Gardens Navy
Background: Admiral Blue
Colors: Petunia, Violet, Fig Tree Olive, Sweet Pea, Amelia Pink

SPRING 2026 - CASTLE STARS

Every design is my favourite until I finalize the next one. I can say that Castle Stars is the one that has taken me the longest to finalise so far, which may be why I am SO excited for it. Similar to the Cleo quilt, it uses common blocks with easier techniques to create a striking effect - in this case, a kaleidoscopic one. It's also the first pattern I'll be offering in more than two sizes! You'll hear more about this one in the January newsletter announcement. I don't have the fabrics for this one to show you yet (will update when I do!), but this one is also not afraid of COLOR.

SUMMER 2026 - TBD

Here's the thing. I have a lot of ideas. Like, a lot. My favourite way to relax in the evening is either working on new designs or coloring old ones. So I haven't settled on which one will be the Summer release. I have multiple designs that I haven't finalized yet, so I'm not comfortable slating any of them for release. I'm also musing on branding and how not all my designs "go together" well enough, so I need to be intentional on what's a 3KQ and what's a design I make for myself (me looking at my prequilt graveyard: square quilts, clearly...). Maybe I'll have more than one finalized in time and you can vote on the summer release!

FALL 2026 - CHRISTMAS WISHES

I love Christmas. LOVE it. Christmas was always magical growing up. Some of my favourite memories are decorating with my sister, lights, Christmas music and church services, cookies and family. I knew I'd have to design Christmas quilts (yes, plural, but not all at once!), and as I started to see others' holiday sewing popping up, the idea for this one rooted deeply and would not let go until I finalized it. It took many, many iterations and tweaks, but I'm so happy with the result and can't wait to share it with you. And this one is for beginners!

These are also Moda (except the red) - the Warm Winter Wishes collection by Holly Taylor
Backing - Berry Branches in Spruce
Background - Branches in Sage
Colors, Cotton Shot in Scarlet (for Benartex)*, Berries in Antler

*I didn't want to go too deep a red given how light the other colors on the front are, but seeing it in better light I will likely swap it for something more burgundy.
